The subject matter of the piece is a tiger which is laying on a fallen tree in a dark tropical environment. I decided to make this project a tiger because of all the cool patterns seen in their fur, which I love! They also are super strong and majestic creatures that I admire so much! To give the tiger this majestic look, I used bright colors for his fur to emphasize him as the subject of this piece. His fur also creates a pattern with all his stripes, which leads the viewer down the whole entirety of the piece. His fur also has lots of value to give him more dimension and to make him look more realistic. The gray in the darker sections of fur is a good example of value seen in this work. Overall I am super surprised at how well this piece turned out, and am looking forward to using this in my portfolio!
Cyanotypes Diptychs
These works were based off of the photos me and my boyfriend took this summer in a sunflower field once it was in bloom. It was a super fun experience, which is why I chose to make this project based off them. I used colored pencils to enhance the second photo by looking at the reference photo and adding shading and highlights according to where they are on the original image to bring out certain features in the photo. I also made the petals of the sunflower yellow to contrast the blues of the rest of the piece.
Precious Memories
The subject of this piece is my boyfriends hand holding a necklace with his initial on it that he gifted me on my birthday with a sunflower field in the background. My boyfriend is a very special person to me, as he makes me such a happy person when he's around so doing a piece revolving around him was no question. The necklace that he gifted me is so special to me as well since he thought of me when buying it, and to show how special it is to me, I wear it everyday. The sunflower field was chosen to be the background because I recently took photos with my boyfriend in a sunflower field and created so many fun memories there, so every time I see one I think of him. To show the great details of my boyfriends hand I created lots of hash marks show value and form. The form of his hand appears very round in areas so I used lots hash marks in those areas to create that round form and to show the value and shadows in certain areas. I used emphasis in this piece by using different mark making on the hand compared to the background. I used hash marks on the hand to contrast the squiggles and lines of the sunflowers and trees in the background. Overall this work looks very detailed and really like how it appears.
Lurking Tiger
The subject of this piece is a tiger lurking in the woods for food. I created this work using ink on a fiber glass panel. I used a pencil to trace an image of a tiger on the internet and separated it into different 5 by 7 panels. After that, I transferred the image into watercolor paper by placing ink on a panel, and pressing down on the paper with a pen in the areas the tracing showed.

Halloween Night
This work depicts a wolf and a crow prowling about on a dark and creepy Halloween night. The materials I used to create this work are a lino block, ink, paper, and a carving tool.To create this work I carved into a Lino block and printed on paper and fabric to show the several colors I chose to put into this piece. When I carved, I thought about the textures in the wolfs fur, so I decided to layer the colors by carving in specific areas on the back and face to make the fur have more depth to it.
A Dragons Might and Have Some Tea
These pictures each relate back to their asian cultures. The dragon one depicts traditional Chinese folklore of a dragon and the dog depicts a funny spin off of a traditional Japanese drawing of a women holding a cup of tea. The materials I used to make these pieces were a silk screen, paper, 2 sweatshirts, and silk screen printing ink. To create these works I first put my designs on a screen and printed them on paper and fabric afterwards. I fixed any mistakes in the screen as I went on by using masking tape and super glue.
