The glazes I used on the bunny are Iron saturated and Dutch Enamelware. The glazes I used for the snowflake are Aquamarine and blue green. The glazes I used for the duck are sunkissed, orange-a-peel, jack-o-lantern, cotton tail, and tuxedo. The glazed I used for the bear are sour apple, green thumb, grapel, the blues, brown cow, tuxedo, orange-a-peel, jack-o-lantern, sunkissed, and cotton tail. The colors I used for the dinosaur are sour apple, green thumb, pink-a-boo, cotton tail, and tuxedo.
Cross Project
For this project I used medium green, pine green, pink, royal blue, sky blue, white, and yellow underglazes. I also used a clear glaze over the underglazes to seal the piece off. To create the stencil, I used construction paper and an x acto blade (which helped make cutting he paper more precise). When putting the stencil on the cross, I reused one section of the stencil throughout the piece to make it more constant while using thick coats of pink underglaze to make the green in the background look more vibrant. I ended up messing up the pattern, which is ok because in the end I added a cool flower in the missing space which I really like! I also created a mono-print stencil to make mono-printing easier for me. To mono-print on the cross, I used underglazes on my flower pattern and stuck them onto my cross. I really like how the mono-print turned out, as it looks very antique and cool! I made this piece with a spring-ish theme in mind. Crosses are heavily seen throughout the spring as Easter (the rising of Jesus from the dead) is in the season. Also, another important aspect of me is that I was born in spring and therefore its my favorite season. I overall am super glad with how this came out and hope to make more pieces like it in the future!
Mishima Slab Cup
The underglazes I used to create this cup were RoyalBlue, Irish Green, Sky Blue, Brown, and White. To create the cup, I rolled a slab of clay into an even square and cut it into the shape I needed using a pattern. Then I rolled another smaller slap to create the bottom of the cup. After this, I combined the two together by scoring. After that, I created a handle using my hands and scored that on. Once the cup was more dry, I scratched a design onto it and then put underglaze over it and then scraped off the access underglaze. This revealed the beautiful design underneath! After this, I fired it and then added a thin coat of the colors Cotton Tail, Green Thumb, My Blue Heaven, Irish Luck, Jade, and Camel Back and then a clear glaze to top it off. After that it was fired again and was finished! Overall, This project turned out very nice and I am proud of how it turned out
Crazy Coil Pot
The glazes I used to create this piece are bluebeard, tawny, bluebell, cotton tail, orange-a-peel, jack o' lantern, aquamarine, transparent pearl, and sapphire. To create the finished product, I rolled a coil into a circle and put it into a paper bowl to create its shape. Next, I added different types of coils to different layers and then smoothed the inside of it when I thought I was to a good point. Lastly, I added the shells and the star fish to the outside of the bowl to make the piece look like an ocean. Next it was fired an thats when I added the glazes listed above. This project turned out much better than expected and I am very proud of it!
Sgraffito Vase
To create this piece I created several coils and and layered them on top of each other one by one. I smoothed them out every three coils and checked to see if the vase was symmetrical by using a pattern and holding it up to to form of the vase. After I finished the vase form, I smoothed it out using a metal rib and added a black under glaze and some white and brown underglaze mixed together. Next I added designs by scratching into the underglaze using a needle tool. Lastly I added a top coat of clear glaze after it was fired for the first time.
Pinch Pot Pumpkins
To create these pieces I used thumb green, orange-a-peel, java bean brown, tuxedo black, and clear glaze. First I created two simple pinch pots and formed them together to create a pumpkin shape (for both i smoothed them out with metal ribs afterwards). Next I added the notches in the pumpkin using my wooden rib and added a stem (coils for the big one and slip trailing for the small). After this I carved my design into the big pumpkin using a pumpkin carving tool and smoothed it out using a paint brush. After it was fired for the first time it was glazed then finished. I used the black cat pattern because I wanted it to look spooky for halloween and I love cats so much!
Cylinders
The glazes I used to create this are green, pink (red, pink, white underglaze mixed together), and sky blue. I also used sun kissed yellow, Caribbean blue, orchid, cotton tail, green thumb, and jack-o-lantern. I also used a clear glaze on the outside and the jungle gems poppy field, lagoon blue, and lemon lime. To create these pieces I first centered a piece of clay onto a wheel. Afterwards I opened it up and left a fourth of an inch of clay at the bottom. I then set the bottom and then pulled the sides to the width I desired and then set the rim. Afterwards, I raised them to the desired hight. Then I trimmed the bottom and cut them off the wheel. On my mug, I created a handle using a coil and sgraffitoed flowers and leafs into it. I chose to do flowers because they remind me of spring, which is my favorite season. For the tumbler, I sgraffitoed clouds into it, which reminds me of a nice spring sky. Also for the vase I did sgraffito leaves to also signify my favorite season of spring. Each of these pieces work together to create my favorite aspects of spring.
Nesting Bowls
For these pieces I used the underglazes white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, sky blue, purple, and pink. I also used a clear glaze and the kaleidoscope jungle gem. To create the small bowl, I used a lump of clay and sculpted it into a foot shape for the bottom. For all of the pieces I used slip trailing to form the icing dripping onto the sides of the "cake". I chose to make my bowls form a 3 layer cake because I love sweets! especially cake! I also thought it was a very cute and unique idea that I have never seen anyone do before.
